jj - jj n° 2

jj is playful pop music that makes you dream of a far away place. After hearing jj's debut single, "My Life, My Swag", I had high hopes for this debut full length. Unfortunately, this does not stand up quite as well. Don't get me wrong, this album is still pretty good, but it suffers from a few problems. For one, the songs are a bit same-y sounding. Luckily, the album is very short and sweet, just like a pop album should be.

There are definitely a few great songs here, but the album is burdened by "Ecstasy", a reworking of the song Lollipop. I find it very hard to sit through without cringing and it just ruins the mood and flow of the album set up by the first few tracks. "Are You Still In Vallda?" is the standout track, a reminder not to give up on the album just yet. A good album for those who are wanting to live carefree and love life.

!!! - Myth Takes

This is an interesting dance rock cd released back in 2007. The album is laced with enough great basslines to keep your head bobbing right up until the last track. The singer's dorky narrative style seems odd at first but quickly becomes charming. The first half of the album is definitively better, with "Must Be The Moon" being a clear standout, but the epic "Bend Over Beethoven" keeps the second half going strong. Overall, this is a creative and fun album.
